My dad’s pork toasted sandwich recipe is a family favourite. It’s my preferred dish to make with my dad. We both enjoy cooking and getting creative with food.

Homemade bread (Makes: 24 slices)
Ingredients:

  • 2 cups warm water

  • ½ cup white sugar

  • 1 ½ tablespoons active dry yeast

  • 1 ½ teaspoons Oryx salt

  • ¼ cup Sunfoil Platinum oil

  • 6 cups Champagne Valley flour (you can use all purpose flour or bread flour)

 Method:

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, then stir in the yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam, about 5 minutes.

  2. Mix salt and oil into the yeast mixture. Mix this into the flour one cup at a time.

  3. Knead the dough for 7 minutes.

  4. Place dough into a bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until double in size (about 1 hour)

  5. Knead dough for 1 minute and divide in half. Shape into loaves and place into bread tins. Allow to rise for about 30 minutes.

  6. Bake at 175° C for 30-40 minutes or until baked.
