Hot and cold desserts at the Student Popup

On Friday 2 October 2026, The Roadside Cafe brings the results of practical student training to Hilton from 3pm. Our students will prepare an assortment of hot and cold desserts for customers to collect and enjoy.

Hot and cold desserts call for different decisions in the kitchen. A baked dessert needs its texture and finish judged while it is warm; a chilled dessert needs time to set, careful portioning and a container that protects it on the journey home. Bringing both to a student popup lets our chefs practise the work that sits between a recipe and the moment someone collects it.

A changing student-made assortment

The final assortment will reflect what students complete in their practical sessions. The photographs used to promote this popup illustrate the theme and are not a confirmed list of dishes. Expect a changing student-made selection rather than a fixed dessert menu.

The Roadside Cafe connects what students are learning in the kitchen with the people around them. Each selected Friday offers a chance to taste that work while it is fresh.
