Our Sundowners evenings bring together good wine, food and the opportunity to learn a little more about what is in the glass.
On Wednesday 16 September, a selection of wines from Backsberg Family Wines will be presented, with our students preparing food tastings to complement the wines being poured.
Backsberg’s winemaking story stretches back more than a century, combining longstanding family heritage with a contemporary focus on sustainable winemaking. The winery became South Africa’s first certified carbon-neutral winery in 2006.
Its winemaking philosophy centres on balance, fruit expression and drinkability — creating wines in which tannin, acidity, alcohol, sweetness and oak work together rather than compete.
Whether you already know Backsberg or simply enjoy discovering new wines, this is designed to be a relaxed and sociable midweek evening rather than a formal tasting.
