I believe a successful day relies heavily on a healthy morning kick start. The ideas I’m about to share may even entice youngsters to think more seriously about breakfast.

FROZEN YOGURT ICE LOLLIES WITH HOMEMADE MUESLI

Pour a little milk over muesli and a frozen-yoghurt, fruit iced lolly and you'll find the developing fruity flavours tickling your taste buds. Alternatively, you could lick your way through the lolly if you're on the run. Remember this 'lively' lolly whenever you need a late-morning or early-afternoon snack.

BANANA BREAD FRENCH TOAST WITH CINNAMON BANANAS

Banana bread takes me straight back to happy childhood days. I suggest using it for French toast and topping that with cinnamon, bananas and home-spun honey. And on special occasions a thick dollop of mascarpone cheese and super-crispy, streaky bacon goes down a treat. Other appealing suggestions include a chocolate-chunks topping or an accompanying serving of dried-fruit compote. Remember these ideas if ever you have left-over banana bread.

COCONUT QUINOA PORRIDGE WITH FRESH BERRIES AND FLAKED ALMONDS

Healthy properties make quinoa a popular ingredient. For a nourishing meal serve it with any fruit of your choice, lightly toasted almonds and coconut chunks. Pour rice or coconut milk over this. My preference is full-cream milk. The choice is yours…
