“Tucked away at the far end of the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, Colmant Cap Classique & Champagne is a young and dynamic family winery entirely focused on the production of the finest Cap Classique and the importation of a few gems from Champagne.”
Jean-Philippe and Isabelle Colmant emigrated from their home country Belgium in 2002. Starting from scratch, they have become in a few years highly famous and recognized in the restrained but growing circle of discerning South African bubbly drinkers.
Their production of Cap Classique amounts 40,000 bottles per year, spread over 3 different blends :
- Brut Reserve (52% Pinot Noir – 48% Chardonnay)
- Brut Chardonnay (100% Chardonnay)
- Brut Rose (75% Pinot Noir – 25% Chardonnay)
“Beside our very distinctive style of bubbly, we try to offer our customers an “out of the ordinary” experience, either when they come and visit our cellar and tasting room either when we entertain them on private tastings, corporate events or food and bubbly pairing dinners. We believe that half the enjoyment of drinking a bottle of wine is related to the history linked to that bottle. This is why we try to develop a very close and personalized customer relationship where eventually customers become friends. It’s a real value added for the consumer but also for the producer it is highly rewarding to meet and know the people who will enjoy the product we made with so much effort and passion.”
