A Look into Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine's Weber Journey

At Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine , the art of cooking goes hand in hand with celebrating South Africa's rich culinary heritage. With a recent addition of seven beautiful Weber grills, Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine has taken its outdoor cooking experiences to exhilarating heights.

The Webers at Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine have quickly become the heart and soul of the culinary school. They have been utilized to their fullest extent, providing endless possibilities for students, guests, and even the team from 5FM. From hands-on cooking classes to corporate team-building events, the Webers have been put to the test in a multitude of exciting ways.

We did a corporate team-building experience, which gave the team the chance to make my grandfather's boerewors recipe. With the help of an old-school meat grinder, the team dove into the world of traditional South African sausages, fostering a deeper connection with the country's roots and culinary legacy.

During the 5 Drive Heritage Tour, I had the privilege of teaching the 5 Drive team some exciting culinary skills. One of the highlights was sharing my knowledge and techniques for baking the beloved Malva pudding. This traditional South African dessert holds a special place in our hearts, and I was thrilled to guide them through the process of creating this indulgent and comforting treat.

In addition to baking, we also delved into the world of Mzanzi pizza mashups. I introduced the team to the art of creating unique and delicious pizza combinations inspired by traditional South African flavors. From boerewors and chakalaka toppings to biltong and feta cheese, we explored the endless possibilities of blending local ingredients with the beloved Italian classic.

Together, we celebrated the rich heritage and flavors of Mzansi cuisine, creating a memorable culinary experience that highlighted the diversity and creativity within our local food scene. I am proud to have shared these moments with the 5 Drive team, and I hope they continue to carry these newfound skills and knowledge on their journey through the 5 Drive Heritage Tour.
